Each morning they fly out then return to report to Odin on the state of the world. Odins two wolves, also his companions, are painted in negative space, in Northwest Coast native style, on each side of the panel. The face on the bottom is Mimir at whose well Odin made the trade of his left eye for the gift of wisdom.
